Marrickville is also the company’s fabric innovation centre. We conduct extensive research and development utilizing an in-house laboratory and testing facility, ensuring fabric performance and practicality, with style and colour.
This department is responsible for tracking and sampling every fabric batch produced. Shaw considers consistent quality and colour paramount.

FABRIC TECHNOLOGY

Marrickville is the company’s fabric innovation centre. We conduct extensive research and development utilising an in-house laboratory and testing facility.

Shaw’s signature product is our direct coated fabric. Successful because of the acrylic coating’s technical attributes all developed in-house;

X link - chemically bonds thick acrylic coating paste onto the base cloth providing; heat and dimensional stability, and resistance to cracking and fraying.
Easy Clean - resists dirt and dust, and allows marks to be easily removed with a mild detergent solution.

Fade Resistant - high quality light fast pigments ensure life time colour consistency.

To comply with international standards Shaw’s technical team developed our Advanced Fire Retardancy coating which far exceeds Australian standards. Market leading in this fabric sector in Australia.

ENVIRONMENT

Shaw operates with consideration for the environment at all levels of administration and manufacturing. Our manufacturing processes and equipment are designed to minimize our impact on the environment. Measures include a waste water treatment plant which ensures all wastewater is disposed of in accordance with all local, state and federal requirements, and our equipment has been modified to control emission levels.

Shaw fabrics are PVC free. Our direct coated fabrics are manufactured using environmentally friendly water based acrylic resins which do not contain PVC.

Shaw fabrics significantly reflect heat and light entering the building via the window. Thus, reducing energy demand and costs associated with air conditioning in residential and commercial buildings.
These solar optical properties mean that Shaw fabrics can contribute towards Greenstar Rating Accredition, created by the Green Council of Australia.
